How Is Skin Lymphoma Managed?
Treatment Goals and Planning
While there is currently no cure for skin lymphoma, various treatment options can effectively manage symptoms and slow disease progression. Our treatment plans are highly individualized and consider the stage of the disease, extent of skin involvement, presence of symptoms, overall health status and patient preferences.
A Team-Based Treatment Strategy
Our Board-Certified Dermatologists work closely with oncology specialists to provide comprehensive care. When diagnosed with skin lymphoma, patients are first referred to oncology for a complete evaluation to determine the extent of the disease and whether there are any tumors requiring specific treatments like radiation therapy.
Treatment/Management Options
At AboutSkin, we offer several dermatological approaches to manage skin lymphoma. These include topical treatments such as chemotherapy medications applied to the skin and corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. Light therapy options like photodynamic therapy (PDT) may also be employed. Additionally, systemic treatments including oral retinoids and other medications may be prescribed by your AboutSkin or oncology team.
Ongoing Monitoring
Regular monitoring is essential and includes routine skin examinations, regular check-ups with your dermatology and oncology specialists, monitoring of treatment response and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
